Optimization Webinar: 7 B2B and B2C headlines and their webpages optimized live (plus the 5 key principles behind those suggestions)

It’s hard to overstate the importance of the first message prospective customers see: your headline. Taking just a few minutes to optimize this handful of words could impact every other element of your marketing funnel. For ideas on improving those headlines, watch this video replay of the September 2015 MECLABS Optimization Webinar.

Headlines aren’t just reserved for homepages; [they] aren’t just reserved for product pages. They can be very effective even in checkout processes.

— Austin McCraw, Senior Director of Content Production, MECLABS Institute

Marketing has become an immensely complex endeavor, and the modern marketer has to contend with challenges ranging from email deliverability regulations to marketing automation implementation.

It’s all too easy to overlook the essential, opening communication you have with your customers that drives their initial engagement with your brand and the need for these marketing technology and processes – the headline.

To arm you with the information you need to improve your headlines, we focused on these few, important words in the September webinar. The 45-minute session started with a brief introduction to five key principles of headlines that convert, as discovered through a meta-analysis of 15 years of behavioral research.

Though the webinar primarily focused on headlines, the optimization specialists also provided feedback on various parts of seven audience-submitted webpages, including:

  • Membership landing page, AARP
  • Homepage for an ecommerce site that specializes in eco-friendly dog products, Earth Doggy
  • Ticket checkout page, Walt Disney World
  • Sign-up page for a business-to-customer referral service, Now Buddy
